Dear Department Chair:
I am pleased to invite you to attend the 2001 Fall Meeting of
the Society of Chairs of Academic Radiology Departments (SCARD).
The meeting is scheduled for September 6-8, 2001 at the San Francisco
Hilton, immediately preceding the 78th Annual Meeting of the American
College of Radiology (ACR).
The Fall Meeting will commence with a Welcome Reception at 6:30pm
on Thursday evening, September 6. Meeting registration will open
Friday morning and general sessions are scheduled for Friday and
Saturday. On Sunday, SCARD is offering a program for new and prospective
chairs, however, all chairs are welcome to attend. I would like
to extend special thanks to Dr. Joseph K.T. Lee and Dr. N. Reed
Dunnick for coordinating this program. Please find further details
enclosed.
Please refer to the enclosed agenda for a complete outline of the
SCARD Fall Meeting program. The following is a sampling of topics
to be discussed:
- Process Improvement Programs
- Strategies for dealing with loss of faculty / fellows to private
practice
- Research in the residency program
Business managers are encouraged to attend the SCARD meeting. Members
of their professional society, the Association of Academic Administrators
in Radiology and Radiation Oncology (AAARRO), are participating
in the SCARD sessions. AAARRO is also holding separate sessions
preceding the SCARD meeting on Wednesday and Thursday. Further details
regarding the AAARRO meeting will be sent to the business managers
under separate cover.
Registration fees are listed on the enclosed meeting registration
form. Please note that fees include all food functions, including
the traditional Friday Night Dinner, which will be held at Farralon,
located in the heart of San Francisco's Union Square.
I am happy to announce that Fujifilm Medical Systems, Inc. is the
major sponsor for this year's Fall Meeting. On behalf of SCARD,
I wish to thank them for their generosity and continued support
of SCARD's efforts.
I ask that you complete the enclosed meeting registration form
and return it to the SCARD office by August 17, 2001. Also
enclosed is a hotel reservation form, which may be found within
the ACR 78th Annual Meeting brochure. The deadline for housing
is August 3, so I encourage you to make your reservation via phone
(415) 771-1400 as soon as possible.
