SCARD Meetings - 2001 Fall Meeting - New/Prospective Chair Orientation
July 2001
Dear Colleague:
In response to feedback from prior SCARD surveys as well as the
larger than usual turnover in radiology chair positions in recent
years, we have developed a program for new (less than two years)
and prospective Chairs. The program will take place on Sunday, September
9, 2001, the day after our fall SCARD meeting in San Francisco,
California. The course is designed to familiarize attendees with
major challenges facing academic radiology departments and to discuss
solutions for them. The sessions will be both didactic and interactive.
War stories from trenches will be used as illustrative examples
and ample time will be allotted for questions and answers.
Enclosed please find a copy of the final schedule for this course.
We encourage all the newly appointed chairs, whether permanent,
interim or acting, to attend this course. We also invite the veteran
chairs to send one or two of their aspiring senior faculty to attend
the course. To defray the cost of the course, a $300 fee will be
charged to each non-SCARD member and $200 to each SCARD member.
The tuition will cover course materials, one continental breakfast,
one lunch and two coffee breaks.
We look forward to seeing you in San Francisco. Best wishes for
a relaxing summer.
Sincerely,
Joseph K.T. Lee, MD
N. Reed Dunnick, MD
